Import Accounts

Importing is a way to create user accounts, as well as a device for each. This is typical for large organisations and operators, who add users in bulk. Importing is counterpart of exporting, and enables many big operations, such as moving users from an organisation or service to another.

Account importing can be used in the Users, Managers, and Resources sections.

Account importing dialog.

To import accounts, first select the section where you're going to import the accounts ( users, managers or resources ).

Then click the import button, and new dialog will open. Dialog also tells which fields in the table are mandatory.

If mandatory fields are corrupted or missing, some accounts might not get imported correctly.

You may also choose a template as a base template for each imported account. Click Import button to select a file from the local file system.

Next dialog will prompt you to select a file format for your table file. This must correctly selected, otherwise accounts are not imported.

To get more information about each field in the File format dialog, refer to chapter Accounts → Export accounts.

After service has imported accounts into database, you will see a result dialog containing information about how operations went.

If Attempted imports count is same as Successful imports, you have successfully imported

all accounts from your external file into service database.

After importing accounts, results dialog will tell how the operations succeeded.

It's good to check the table named Issues while importing. Sometimes importing may cause system to do automate issue corrections.

In the image above, shows how the accounts being imported did have CN-values that were already present in the database.

Therefore system generated automatically new CN-values for those accounts.

Note:

It's good to use exported table from the service as a base table, even if you decide to insert all values by yourself.

In this way, you can evade many possible import problems based on the table formatting.
