Communication

The Configuration→Communication menu section has settings involving contact addresses and templates for the organisation, and translations of various messages. As with most other configuration, these settings are normally system-wide and configured by the service supervisor. It is possible to customise them for an organisation, although the use of parameters should make that unnecessary in most cases.

The tabs and their settings are described below:

Contact Details

The contact details can be any general contact information in the organisation for the device owners.

On Android, they are shown in the Support section in the client app.

The user can send a message to the support contacts by clicking on them.

Tip

The support contacts are not added to the address book on the devices. For that, you need to have a resource account with a shared address book, as described in Resource Accounts.

Organisation-Specific Contacts

You can choose to Use system wide settings if the support services are handled by the service provider. Otherwise, you need to define them for the organisation explicitly.

Disabling the edit controls allows editing them.

You can create a new contact item as follows:

  1. Click Add. An empty contact is immediately created.
  2. Edit the fields in the new contact item
  3. Click Save changes.

You can edit an item simply by editing the fields and clicking Save changes.

Email message template

The email message template is used when sending device owners certain email (not through the admin portal). The template can be defined in multiple languages and the one matching the language of the recipient is used.

You can use parameters in curly braces. See the Localised messages tab for the complete list of the available parameters.

Especially:

{displayName}

Usually the full name of the recipient (user).

{EMAIL_BODY}

The message body. They are defined in the Localised messages section.CHECK

{softwareName}

Name of the service sending the message.

Localised messages

The localised messages are various messages sent to the device owners, such as instructions for setting up the client or account.

As with other communication settings, the system-wide settings are done by the service supervisor. Settings done in this tab override the system-wide settings (there is no checkbox for that).

Selecting the Language and Message Type

There are a number of messages (message types) that can be sent to users.

Click Paste default values below to copy the system-wide settings done by the service supervisor. They are the same as shown in gray otherwise.
