Device Editor

The device editor is used in several functionalities. Its primary use is for editing devices in the device inventory, but it is also used when editing device templates.

Once done with the settings, click Save & close to save them. Some settings are validated at this time. If some values are invalid, an error message will be displayed and the editor stays open.

Basic Settings

You can edit the basic settings by selecting the first item, which shows the device or template name, in the selection box. For a new device or template, the caption is "New device" or "New template", respectively.

The settings are as follows:

Active

An inactive device cannot contact the service, so all its functionalities are disabled.

Disable DM

Only disables device management for the device. Data synchronisation still works.

Platform

Operating system platform for the device. This is mandatory for templates and is automatically set for new devices. The platform selection affects the visible items in the device settings menu.

Owner

The owner of the device is automatically set when registering a new device, but you can change it later by clicking it. It is disabled for templates.

Phone number (optional)

Phone number of the device. Enables sending SMS messages to the device, including those for setting up the service.

Group membership (optional)

Device groups to which the device belongs to. Device groups are defined in Devices→Groups, as described in Device Groups.

A device can only belong to one group in a singleton set indicated with a letter. For example, if you have two exclusive groups, such as "Personal (P)" and "Company-owned (P)", where their singleton set is "P", a device can only belong to either of them.

Description (optional)

Free-form description. It can be used for filtering devices.

PUK1 & PUK2 (optional)

Personal Unlocking Key 1 and 2 for the device. They can be used to unlock the SIM card if inputting the PIN code fails three times consecutively. They can be stored here for informational purposes, but are not used by the system.
