Setup Device Templates (Obsolete)

Device templates are at the very core of the service. You need at least one device template for each mobile OS platform. Many organisations have much more.

Templates are preset settings for new user, manager and resource accounts. They are good when certain settings are common to many users and can carry those settings when creating new devices.

To setup new Device Templates, go to Devices on the main page and click on Templates as shown above. 

• Click on the New button to create a new template, a dialogue window should be displayed, which looks exactly same as normal device editor. The Inventory chapter has better information about each field and their settings.
  
  

  • Display Name: Enter a desirable display name for the template.

  • Active: Click to mark template active or leave to remain inactive.

  • Disable DM: Click to disable the template DM or leave to activate. 

  • Platform: Choose from the drop-down menu the platform to use with the template (below). 
    
    
    

  • Owner: The owner cannot be changed through the template. Can be set when configuring the device template. 

  • Operator/Carrier: Choose from the drop-down menu an operator (Required for Nokia Symbian Devices Only).
    
    
    

  • Phone number: Enter a phone number (international format with '+' prefix).

  • Group membership: Select (through the link 'Select groups') a Organization Unit the template will be used.

  • Description: Define terms and conditions for the template, and other information associated with the template.
    
    
    

• Follow the setup instructions on the Device Configuration > Device Inventory and Tasks to define settings if desired, and save template (Shown Below).

• Click the Save & Close button to save settings, or the Cancel button to exit without saving settings.
