Device Installer is a specific task-oriented limited-use manager account. It is normally used by those who mainly do device deployments.

This document describes how a Device Installer account is created and how the special user interface is used.

Creating a Device Installer account

Device Installer accounts are manager account with a special feature enabled. Installers can only set up devices in their home organisation.

  1. Create a new manager account as a supervisor, vendor or another manager.
  2. In the Access rights & features tab select the Force installer user interface option
  3. Additionally select at least Add/Delete device and Activate/Deactivate device.
  4. Save the account

Using the Device Installer user interface

Log in as the Device Installer account. You will see the following:

The user interface has been split into three panels: Users, Devices and Tasks. On top is the installer's name, organisation's name and the Log out button.

Users

You can search and select existing end user accounts in this panel. Type a part of the user's name (first or last name) or the user's ID into the search field and press Enter or Search to see the results in the table. Select one of the users to continue.

Devices

The Devices table shows devices for the selected user. Devices that are already manageable are highlighted with a green color. Others will have normal color.

You can create a new device profile by pressing the Create device button below the table. You will be asked to select the device template and optionally to enter a phone number for the device. The phone number would be the number of the end user.

The Refresh button refreshes the Devices table content. This can be useful if you are waiting for a device to become manageable after sending initial settings to it.

Tasks

Send initial settings to device

This task enables you to send the initial settings to the selected device. If your work flow includes using a temporary installation SIM card in the device during the setup process, you can select or enter the phone number into the Deployment mobile field.

Press Send initial settings to device button to continue. Follow the instructions in it to continue.
