Volume Purchase Programme (VPP)
VPP is an Apple App Store purchase option for organisations. Using it is optional, but common.
In this tab, you can manage already set up VPP settings, upload/download a service token, search for VPP licences, or remove the Volume Purchase Programme altogether.
Setting up VPP
Â
Let us assume that you already have an Apple VPP user account. Creating a new Apple VPP account is out of scope of this document.
Â
- Go to https://vpp.itunes.apple.com
- Select either Education or Business.
- Sign in with your VPP account.
- Select Account Summary from the menu as illustrated below.
- In the Account Summary page, click Download Token link to download Service Token (sToken) file to your computer.
- Now log in to the admin portal with either organisation manager or vendor/master credentials.
- Navigate to Organisation→Organisation from the main menu.
- Select the Volume Purchase Programme tab.
- Click Upload service token button to upload the token file downloaded in the previous step.
After the service token is uploaded, all VPP related data (user accounts, licenses) is automatically fetched from the Apple VPP web service. VPP related data is automatically reloaded every 5 minutes. You can also click Refresh button below the Available licenses table to immediately force full reload.
Â
Creating Applications
Â
This section assumes that you have already bought some VPP licenses that are visible in the Available licenses table in mySync VPP user interface. If you have not bought any licenses yet, do so now.
Â
It is required that you create an application for every VPP license batch (batch means all licenses for same iTunes app/book) that you have bought in order to assign licenses and install applications to devices.
This step is fully automated.
- Select all the licenses in the Available licenses table.
- Click Create application(s).
- A confirmation dialog will open, press Yes to continue.
Â
It is always safe to re-create/update applications by repeating the previous step, as the system is able to recognise existing applications and no duplicates will be created.
Â
After this step, there should be new applications visible in Devices→Applications.
Â
Viewing Licences
Â
To view available or used VPP licenses:
- Navigate to Devices→Applications in main menu.
- Select an application.
- Click Edit.
- If the application has related VPP licenses, there will be Volume Purchase Programme tab visible in the edit dialog.
The Volume Purchase Programme licenses table shows all related VPP licenses and whether they are available or already assigned to a device.
